In the latest issue of WCO News Magazine (Issue 106, March 2025), Danlex’s Innovation Manager, Dr. Dimitar Todorov, explores how Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) are transforming maintenance strategies for non-intrusive inspection (NII) systems. Traditional maintenance approaches, such as preventive and corrective maintenance, often result in unnecessary interventions and increased downtime.
Dr. Todorov highlights the advantages of condition-based maintenance (CBM) and AI-driven predictive maintenance (PdM) in optimizing efficiency, reducing costs, and ensuring the reliability of critical security infrastructure.
With nearly 30 years of experience in maintaining X-ray security equipment for airports, ports, and borders, since 2017, Danlex’ R&D team has been developing PM4X LPR, an AI-driven predictive maintenance solution specifically designed for X-ray systems. This approach streamlines maintenance workflows by replacing outdated reactive maintenance models with proactive, data-driven strategies.
The solution is already being validated and deployed at several international airports and customs authorities, showcasing its practical application and efficiency.
